Forward Deployed Engineer

Ampersand is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to implement their integration infrastructure platform with strategic customers. The role combines engineering, technical advisory, and partnership responsibilities. Key Responsibilities: Customer Deployments: Lead end-to-end technical implementations with strategic customers, from discovery through successful adoption. Technical Guidance: Assess customer technology stacks and integration requirements, then recommend scalable, maintainable approaches suited to their operational needs. Code Development: Write production-quality code inside customer codebases when the work calls for it. Product Feedback: Connect field learnings with the core engineering team to identify gaps, bugs, and recurring patterns. Knowledge Transfer: Document customer-specific solutions into reusable resources including documentation, examples, and playbooks. Customer Relations: Serve as a genuine thought partner to customer engineering and product teams, not just a vendor contact. Required Qualifications: 4+ years in software engineering, solutions engineering, or customer-facing technical roles. Strong coding fundamentals and comfort working in unfamiliar codebases. Proven customer problem-solving and delivery experience. Understanding of APIs, integrations, distributed systems, or cloud architecture. Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Take responsibility for outcomes from discovery through delivery, not just your slice. Preferred Experience: Developer tools, infrastructure platforms, enterprise software, or AI-native products. CRM, ERP, fintech, or business systems familiarity. Compensation & Benefits: $89,000-$188,000 annually, plus equity, insurance, 401(k) match, and up to 4 weeks PTO.
