Forward Deployed Engineer (Founding role) — New York, NY & London, UK (Hybrid). Full-time. $160K–$200K annually + Equity + Commission. About Anam: Anam develops real-time, interactive AI personas for enterprise customers. Their technology powers sales automation, customer education, and training simulations for organizations including Fortune 500 companies like Siemens and L'Oréal, plus universities like Arizona State University. Role Overview: As the founding Forward Deployed Engineer, you would serve as the primary technical owner for complex, high-stakes customer deployments. The position combines builder, strategist, and customer-facing partner responsibilities, embedding directly within customer engineering teams to map their needs, structure the integration, and ship solutions fast. Key Responsibilities: - Own end-to-end technical delivery from prototype through stable production - Build full-stack systems, custom integrations, and developer tools - Embed with customer teams as a trusted technical advisor - Scope complex projects and sequence delivery while removing blockers - Write production-grade code across the full stack (TypeScript/React/Node, Python/Go) - Establish reusable patterns and best practices for the FDE function - Surface field feedback influencing product and research roadmaps Required Qualifications: - 5+ years engineering experience with significant customer-facing work - Demonstrated ability delivering complex systems in ambiguous environments - Strong full-stack capabilities, particularly TypeScript - Production code experience; comfort learning new languages - Experience with AI/LLM systems and understanding model behavior impact - Product-minded approach with ability to simplify complexity - Clear communication with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders - Strong customer empathy and developer experience focus Bonus qualifications: WebRTC/real-time systems experience; early-stage startup or founding engineer background.
