About the role
Dataland is looking for their first Forward Deployed Engineer to own the full scope of customer deployments end to end: scoping, building, and deploying state-of-the-art applied AI solutions across fintech, healthcare, trust & safety, and consumer. As an FDE, you'll be the trusted face of Dataland for customers, owning the relationship across both executive and operational levels, embedding directly within customer teams to deeply understand their highest-impact problems. You'll constantly scope, build, and ship new workstreams while scaling existing AI products, working on things like fraud detection systems, healthcare automation, or workforce replacement initiatives. Customer success directly drives company profitability, so this role effectively means running your own book of business inside the company.
What they're looking for: 3+ years of engineering experience, proficiency in Python and TypeScript, strong drive and work ethic, solid engineering fundamentals, deep customer empathy, and excellent communication and listening skills. Comfort using AI coding tools like Claude Code and Cursor for workflow optimization is expected.
Compensation: $150K-$400K plus 1% equity. Location: New York, NY. Must be a US citizen or permanent resident (no visa sponsorship).
