Forward Deployed Engineer

Planhat is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to bridge the gap between their platform and real-world enterprise AI deployment, embedding directly with customers to engineer the data pipelines, workflows, and automations that make AI actually work in production. Responsibilities: deliver measurable, scalable, and repeatable AI-powered outcomes for customers; serve as a trusted technical partner, connecting complex business realities with functional AI systems; establish playbooks for forward deployment engineering as a new discipline; embed with customers to understand their business operations and systems; build data pipelines, workflows, and automations that translate AI into commercial value. Requirements: 3-6 years in consulting, data engineering, software engineering, or similar technical roles; willingness to travel to customer sites; strong SQL and data modeling foundation; Python and/or other scripting language proficiency; API integration experience (REST/GraphQL); strong foundation in agentic systems and experience with AI tools; data pipelines, ETL/ELT, or workflow automation familiarity is a bonus. They're looking for customer-facing comfort and ambiguity tolerance, curiosity, ownership, and a building orientation, with fast learning ability described as the most important trait. Compensation: $170,000-$250,000 OTE (base + variable), varying by location and experience, plus bonuses and benefits.
