Forward Deployed Engineer

Lead Forward Deployed Engineer at Prosper AI. This is a player-coach position combining hands-on engineering (~50%) with team leadership (~50%). The candidate will lead Prosper's Forward Deployed Engineer function while maintaining individual contributor responsibilities. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership: Manage and develop Forward Deployed Engineers, focusing on their growth, performance, hiring, and day-to-day direction. Establish a high-trust, high-ownership culture. Technical Direction: Define architecture and best practices for agent deployment across clients. Ensure teams build reusable solutions rather than one-off fixes. Establish team processes for scoping, prioritization, incident handling, and feedback loops. Hands-On Work: Handle complex integrations and performance optimization. Debug live voice agents handling thousands of daily phone calls. Serve as technical lead for key healthcare customers. Optimization & Collaboration: Guide LLM prompting, voice configuration, and conversation logic. Partner with product and engineering leadership on roadmap alignment. Required Qualifications: Strong software engineering background with demonstrated technical leadership. Knowledge of FastAPI (Python), PostgreSQL, and React (TypeScript). Client-facing problem-solving experience. Familiarity with LLMs or AI agents. Ability to balance IC work with people management. Founder mindset: ownership + hard work. Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS, Engineering, Math, Physics, or equivalent experience.
